Oxford NERC Doctoral Training program and St. Cross College are offering scholarships for students who will commence their PhD program in Environmental Research at the University of Oxford in Doctoral Training Program or DTP. The Scholarships are open for UK and EU students. Graduate scholarships in Environmental Research at University of Oxford is available for the academic year 2019-2020.
St. Cross College is a part of the University of Oxford. It is a graduate college that offers an excellent academic environment dedicated to the pursuit of students in the collegiate university. It has a diverse community with over 60% of students coming from abroad. The common room is a great mixture of cultures and language. This college is located in St Giles which is situated right in the very heart of Oxford city. This college is located conveniently for a large number of institutes, departments and libraries. Add to that there are various social hotspots nearby like George Street, Little Clarendon Street as well as Oxford Castle which are only minutes away.
The Graduate scholarships in Environmental Research at University of Oxford will be awarded based on academic merit and will only be tenable at St. Cross College. The scholarships are available for these three subject streams: Biodiversity, the Physical Climate, Evolutionary and Ecology Processes, and the Dynamic Earth – Natural Hazards and Surface Processes. The award will cover the cost of the course fee for qualified students for the whole duration of study coterminous with full cost liability if students succeed in completing Transfer of Status. The award also includes a yearly maintenance grant for £ 14,999 as stipulated by the RCUK doctoral stipend for home students. Qualified candidates will be given priority for a room for the first year of their course in College accommodation (at the standard rent).
Candidates who apply for the DTP and choose St. Cross as their first college choice will be considered automatically. This applies to students who apply at any time before the admissions deadline. This scholarship is reserved for UK students as full-time only.
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Have financial difficulty to cover the costs as a graduate education
- Have community or leadership giveback potential or experience
Candidates who have disabilities and come from disadvantaged background but are academically talented and have their first degree from a recognized university will be eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must not engaged at work at all. This also applies to candidates who have been engaged at work but couldn’t cover financial obligations for their study expenses.
The closing date for the Graduate scholarships in Environmental Research at University of Oxford is on January 18th 2019.
