In honour of Yaolin Wang, Rising Star scholarship at Indiana University is established and now open for applications. This year, the University is offering the Rising Star scholarship at Indiana University for international students who wish to pursue their undergraduate degree at the University. The scholarship call is offered in honour of a deceased Yaolin Wang, an IU student whose life ended before she could fulfil her bright future.
The scholarship is worth $ 3000 and is a one-time award. It will be credited to the student’s bursar account for the fall of 2019.
This scheme recognises a student who is building her future through engagement and involvement. The nominator needs to demonstrate:
- The student has a deep desire to constantly enhance life at the University by engaging in opportunities to lead or help others
- How the student’s experience at the university has helped them develop and grow as an emerging leader
To ensure your application will be taken into consideration, you must fulfil the following minimum criteria:
- You must have obtained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- You must be a freshman, junior or sophomore at the time of nomination
- You must identify yourself as a female non-immigrant overseas student
The staff or faculty have to be the one to nominate students for the Rising Star scholarship at Indiana University. In order to do this, please submit a letter of nomination on the form below.
A student can be nominated if she seems to be actively engaged in the University community and is an “everyday heroine”. It is because the University wishes to honour someone with emerging potential to do incredible things. It could be inspiring others, contributing to society at large, working behind the scenes to set others up for success or serving in a leadership role.
The Indiana University Bloomington hopes this scholarship scheme will encourage someone who is on the path to success.
The closing date for scholarship application is on February 28, 2019. The successful applicant will be contacted on March 15, 2019.
The University will then present the Rising Star scholarship recipient on Saturday, March 23 2019 at the International Women’s Day Conference.
