Hanban Full and Partial ECNU Scholarship is given to international students or non-Chinese students. Hanban or Confucius Institute Headquarters is confirming that they are giving CIS (Confucius Institute Scholarship) at ECNU (East China Normal University) for the academic year of 2019.
The Scholarship Description
This particular Hanban Full and Partial ECNU Scholarship is given to international students to cultivate qualified and professional Chinese language teachers as well as promoting Chinese culture and language at the same time. The scholarship is given to outstanding scholars and students, including employed Chinese language teachers to study in Chinese colleges and universities – referred to as the host institutions.
The scholarship is provided for PhD degree study subject in TCSOL or Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. ECNU has been in the educational sector since1951 and it has been known as one of the most well-known, reputable, and prestigious universities in China. They have two campuses in Putuo and Minhang Districts and they are known as the Garden University for their beautiful campus surroundings.
The full scholarship covers living allowance, accommodation fee, medical insurance (and the expenses), and tuition fee. The applicants should be non-Chinese citizens coming outside of China
The applicants should have good mental condition and physique, including well performance in both behavior and academic aspects
The applicants should be determined or dedicated to take teaching as their future careers or they intend to promote Chinese language in the international platform
The applicants should be in between 16 and 35 years of age by the 1st of September 2019. The age limit for applicants working as Chinese (language) teachers currently shouldn’t exceed 45 while the undergraduate students shouldn’t exceed 25.
How to Apply
The applicants are required to complete the online application form found in the official website of Confucius Institution. They can register, complete the form, and upload the relevant supporting documents (the scanned copies). The deadline is on May the 20th 2019 for the study period starting in September 2019.
The host institution will review the applicants’ eligibility. If the applicants are taking ECNU degree programs, an interview will be needed. Hanban will be responsible for conducting the entire assessment and then admitting applicants on competitive selection base.
