The Scholarship Description

The Marsden Statistics PhD Award is basically a collaborative international program with researchers at Australia’s Deakin University and UK’s Nottingham Trent University. The aim is to provide a better opportunity for potential students pursuing a PhD level degree.

The value of the financial support will reach $27,500 an annum for 3 years covering for the course’s tuition fee. Stipend is also provided. Both the stipend and the scholarship are given based on the students’ performance and achievement. If they are able to show satisfactory result, they will continue getting the financial support program. If not, then it is possible that the financial aid will be stopped.

The Requirements

All interested candidates who want to take part in Marsden Statistics PhD Award program need to understand these requirements and make sure that they meet all of those requirements:

  • All applicants are allowed to take part in the PhD level within any PhD degree course or subject
  • All applicants must not get any other financial aid or grants from the university.  They must also meet all the requirements (needed for the admission) to the Doctoral Degree program at AUT (Auckland University of Technology).
  • Eligible applicants are those domestically coming from New Zealand or international students with citizenship in their current residence
  • All applicants are expected to display their knowledge of English language mastery. They must take the IELTS or TOEFL test and then show it as a part of documentation proof of their language proficiency and mastery.
  • All applicants must complete their previous education before they are considered eligible for the PhD registration. They need to have Honors qualification (in Statistics or Analytics) or a Master degree with the First Class Honors or the equivalent level
  • All applicants must send  their application (and complete it) along with supporting documents of academic transcripts, two (academic) referee statements, previous academic certificates, a (brief) outline with research experience and skills, and a CV

How to Apply

Interested candidates are expected to register first for the PhD degree course before they can apply for the scholarship. After the students apply and get the acceptance letter from the university, then they are allowed to apply through the application portal (everything is done online). All international students are advised and expected to contact [email protected] so they can learn about the details of the program and whether it is possible for them to take part in the financial support program. The deadline is on June the 8th 2019.
