This year, students are welcome to apply for the Valerie and Lawrence Kennedy scholarships at University of Melbourne. The award was bequeathed by Mr Lawrence Kennedy together with his spouse, Valerie Kennedy, upon his passing in 2001. Mr Kennedy went to Law School as a mature age student upon his return from WW II under the Soldier Re-settlement Scheme. The scholarships are worth $ 2000 to $ 4000. The award will be granted as a single payment.
The eligible fields of studies are law, legal studies and criminology.
In order to be eligible for this call, interested candidates must be:
- An overseas or domestic student. This means the University will accept applications from students who have either Australian or foreign nationality
- Admitted as well as enrolled for the full year (at time of application) at Melbourne Law School in the Melbourne JD. Please ensure that you submit your application for the scholarship only when you have lodged in your application for admission for a place to study
Kindly note that the scholarship committee will use the following criterion when choosing the qualified students:
- The award will be granted to students categorised as mature aged. In this case, mature age is considered 23 years and older at the time of application.
Interested students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for the closing date for application is on March 10, 2019. No late submissions will be taken into consideration by the scholarship committee.
